外国の方に「日本語」について説明しよう！ 

「They were created in Japan. Each of them represents sounds only.」

(ひらがな、カタカナは日本で考え出されました。それぞれの文字は、音のみを表します。)

There are three kinds of characters in Japanese. One is called “Hiragana”, another is called “Katakana” and the last one is called “Kanji”.

日本語には３種類の文字があります。そしてそれらは「ひらがな」・「カタカナ」・「漢字」と呼ばれます。

All three characters can be used in a single sentence in Japanese at the same time.

日本語では１つの文の中にこれら３つの文字を同時に使うことができます。

“Hiragana” and “Katakana” are used when there are no kanji representation or it’s difficult to write it in Kanji.

「ひらがな」や「カタカナ」は漢字で表せない場合や漢字で書くのが難しい場合に使われます。

The difference between “Hiragana” and “Katakana” is that Hiragana is used for writing native Japanese words.

「ひらがな」と「カタカナ」の違いについてですが、「ひらがな」は日本のものに対して使われます。

On the other hand, Katakana is used for writing loan words, foreign names and foreign countries.

一方で「カタカナ」は外来語や外国人の名前、外国名などで使われます。

For example, the Japanese word for “coffee” is written in katakana as “コーヒー”. Since this came from a foreign language, Katakana is used.

例えば”coffee”に該当する日本語はカタカナで「コーヒー」と表記されます。これはコーヒーが外国語（英語）から来ているためです。

In order to be able to read and write Japanese. First, you need to learn hiragana, katakana, and kanji.

日本語を読み書きできるようにするために、まずひらがな、カタカナ、漢字をおぼえる必要があります。
